Bezier Objects (animations)

October, 2002

The animations came after an extended exploration of the Bezier curves (as described in the main project's documentation).

In the previous work, I had output instantiations serially; while each instance stood alone, it also had a relation to the sibling productions and to the parent system. Taken together, a series of instantiations implies the system. In the animated variations, the implication of the system becomes legible in time.

When there is an accumulation of unrelated instances, a pattern emerges as if from a fog; outlines accumulate, tendencies preponderate. By contrast, when over time the gradual change of parametric variation governs instantiation, the system shows itself in its trajectory. It is this diffrence at a structural level that is the focus of these works.

I have used Flash's actionScript to produce the generative pieces.
